Originally by: CCP Wrangler Marketing has informed me that "the sales are going tremendously well". There's still a lot of months left to book your package and Fanfest pass, but if you want to get the 'early bird special' which is a lower package price, you should order before May 31!
Are the Icelandair packages subject to early-bird special as well, or at least likely to be of limited availability?
As I am coming from New Zealand, I am planning a few weeks holiday around europe before the fanfest to make the most of the extraordinary cost getting over there. If the packages are likely to be quite limited, I will need to do a bit more planning to know which country Ill be flying from.

Seriously. Frekkin A. More Kiwi's the better. It is absolutly fantastic.
As for getting flights from NZ, First time caytlyn and I used Malyasian Airlines, they where ok. Last year we went Thain airline (business class) and stopped in Bangkok for a fews days on teh way home ... which was really really worth it.
Hope to see you there.
Unfortunately I am going a bit on the cheap, so it will be cattle-class for me. The bookings for the Icelandair package are done for myself and a friend. Should be pretty awesome. Staying the extra day to hopefully see some sights around Reykjavik - already had someone suggest I take some landrover tour to a local dormant(dead?) volcano. I'll have to do some searching and see what touristy things Iceland have to offer.
Will be at least 4 of us from NZ there then :-)
Now its just the long wait until the event. Sigh.

argh! what is it about banks and their inability to actually be useful.
Are Euro's acceptable in Iceland? "Dont know" Would there be a conversion fee were I getting another currency converted? "Dont know" If I had travelers cheques in Euros, could they be cashed for Krona? "Dont know" Will *your* travelers cheques be cashable in Iceland? "Dont know" Would it be sensible to get some Krona in cash before I leave? "Dont know" Can you give me cash in Krona? "Probably not"
I should probably just email Iceland Air. THey must know what services are available at the airport... but with so much frustration I had to ***** somewhere :)
Anyhow, looking forward to the trip - I'm sure that with the modern marvels of internet banking, all will be fine. Any other New Zealanders who might be going (I saw there was one posting earlier), let me know if there are any smart things I can do to minimise my fee's and conversions.
Why cant overseas travel be stress-free?

aah thanks for the replies. Google already answered all my questions for me - i was really just complaining that the banks 'foreign currency person' seemed unable to be helpful to me (indeed they didnt even know what currency was used in Iceland - I had to tell them).
But its all good - the main thing was whether Euro could be exchanged at the airport for Krona. The bank recommended I get my travelers cheques in pounds or USD, but that incurs currency conversion fees for all the times I am in Europe!
It seems credit card is a good option with low fees for use overseas, so I might rely heavily on it for the Iceland portion of my holiday. Luckily I got the early-bird package and my flights/accomodation are already paid for :)
